Marie was born in Pendleton, Oregon on March 17, 1922 to Paul and Ida (Martin) Perard.  She attended high school at St. Joseph Academy in Pendleton.

Marie married Jackson Brown on August 20, 1940 in The Dalles, Oregon.  She worked at the US Bank in the 1940’s.  She then moved to La Grande, Oregon with her husband and worked at a medical clinic.  They eventually moved to Carson City, Nevada where they lived for twenty years.  While there, she worked at First Federal Savings and Loan.  After retiring in 1983, they moved back to Pendleton.  Jack passed away after 54 years of marriage.  Marie married Robert Jack Howland in Pendleton, Oregon on January 18, 2002.  They were married for 6 years before he died in 2008.

My mom lived a fulfilling life.  She did volunteer work at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Roundup Hall of Fame and the Historical Society in Pendleton.  She will be missed by all that knew her.

Pam, I was saddened to see that you lost your mother. Marie was one of the best women I have ever been privileged to know and I loved her dearly. She went directly to heaven last week, not a doubt in my mind. Hope you are well and my thoughts are with you.

I am so sorry to hear about your mother. My parents, Harold and Elsie Guyll were long-time friends of Jack and Marie Brown. They were also friends of the Cardens. The last time I saw your mother was at my mother's surprise 80th birthday party we had at the Pendleton Red Lyon in 1990. I remember my dad talking about the Picard boys. My mother lived with us for 3 1/2 years here in Fresno, CA. before she died at 96, January 20, 2007.

I just wanted you to know our hearts and prayers are with you and your family.

Sincerely,
Brenda Howard
