Our loving mother, Mary L. Jenner, 86, a longtime Pendleton resident, died on Monday, November 5, 2012, at Willowbrook Terrace following an extended illness.  She was the eldest child born to William McKinley and Ethel Lorraine (Byerly) Croskrey on June 25, 1926, in Kalispell, Montana.  She was married to Amos Baptiste Malatare and became the dedicated mother of three boys.  She and Malatare later divorced.  In Pendleton on February 2, 1954, she married the love of her life, Eldon (Al) Jenner, who became her children’s exceptional father.  This was proven later as all three boys changed their last name to Jenner once they were of legal age.  Mary and Al were married for 42 years until his death in 1996.

Mary attended grade school in Kalispell and graduated from the local high school.  She and Malatare lived in Kalispell and Polson, Montana, before they divorced.  She moved to Pendleton with her three boys and lived with her father and stepmother until she married Al.  Her passions were her boys and their families, needlework, canning, sewing, reading, traveling, camping, cats, gardening (especially her flowers), puzzles, the Oregon coast, fishing in Alaska, and her church family.  She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.  She care for and nurtured relationships, not only with family members, but many friends and acquaintances.  She loved her Lord and Savior as was evidenced by her walk and talk with Him, and was an exceptional Christian example to her family.

Mary was employed by Harris Pine Mills for 30-plus years as payroll clerk.  After retirement from Harris, she worked as a secretary for HPM Federal Credit Union until it combined with a local credit union.  She also meticulously performed the duties of church treasurer for many years.  When it came to balancing the church’s account, or her own checkbook, even if she were only one penny off, she would patiently and tirelessly work the accounts until they were correctly justified.  She often commented she had a “head for figures.”

Survivors include her children and their wives: Frank and Lorie Jenner of Emmett, Idaho, Dale and Judy Jenner of Pendleton, and Leonard and Donna Jenner of Milton-Freewater; her brother and his wife David and Mary Croskrey of Eugene; family members Charles (Chuck) and AnneMarie Kunkle of Pendleton; grandchildren John and Mary Herald, Christy (Jenner) and William McMillen, Kari (Jenner) and Dale Randall, Anthony (Tony) and Erin Jenner, and Crystal Jenner; great-grandchildren Brady Bruton-Jenner, Taylor Jones, Erin Nicole Jenner, Tristan Jenner, Wyatt Randall, Emily Randall, Cody Kunkle, William Kunkle, and Andrew Kunkle; one great-grandchild, Shilo Foster, and a great-great grandchild, Sophia Foster; several nieces and nephews; her cat companion Tinker Bell “Bomb,” and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, stepmother and husband Al, her sister Irene Wolfe and brother William Croskrey, stepdaughter Ethel Herald and stepson Elmer Jenner, and granddaughter Rhonda Herald.

Arrangements are being cared for by Pendleton Pioneer Chapel.  A celebration of her life will begin on Tuesday, November 13 at 1:30 p.m. at Pendleton Pioneer Chapel, with graveside services to follow at Skyview Memorial Park, Pendleton.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Harris Junior Academy, 3121 S.W. Hailey Avenue, Pendleton, Oregon 97801.
