Billy Dean Judkins, age 83 of Athena, Oregon died October 16, 2015 at home.

He was born to Robert and Emma Vernon Judkins in Mosheim, Texas and moved to Oregon when he was 18.  Billy married Carol Robinson in 1973.

He worked at the Double M, LHT Ranch, Adams, Ore. for 50 years.  He loved farming and never tired of sharing his passion for his work with anyone who stopped to listen to his stories.  One of Billy’s favorite things to do was take the kids out to the ranch where they experienced feeding the pigs, watching him milk the cow while seated on its back, feeding the chickens and “picking the eggs” as he would call it, and raising the special breed of Chicken Coop Cats.

He was a volunteer for 25 years at the Pendleton Round-Up where he sorted cows and operated the gates.  He loved the Round-Up and he never missed a day.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years and his children; Kenneth and Louise Judkins of Bend, Oregon, Cynthia Smalley of Pendleton, Oregon, Suellen and Doug Harral of Weston, Oregon; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.

A Graveside service will take place at Olney Cemetery in Pendleton, OR at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2015; followed by a small reception at Roosters Restaurant, Pendleton, OR.

Donations can be made to Providence St. Mary Regional Cancer Center, 401 W Poplar, Walla Walla, WA 99362 or a charity of your choosing.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at the various medical facilities that helped take care of Billy.

Very sorry for your loss. My best memory is when he took me and my brothers to the FFA barn and showed us the pigs and sheep. Bill and family are in my prayers. Andy
