Joan Helen (Refior) Jones was born Nov. 19, 1936 in North Platte, Nebraska to John H. and Olive Refior.  Joan had 2 siblings, Dona and Robert.  She passed away November 26 at the age of 80 after a stroke.

Joan graduated from North Platte High School in 1954.  She worked for Fox Theater until her marriage to Dean Jones in 1955.  Dean worked for Union Pacific Railroad so the family relocated to several cities in Kansas, Nebraska and Wyoming.  They moved to Hermiston, Oregon in 1973.  Joan and Dean later divorced.

Joan worked as a book keeper and store clerk for a number of years at Hector Shoes and was a familiar face to local merchants and clients.  She enjoyed her work, especially when she was able to decorate for special occasions and holidays.  Joan had belonged to Eastern Star and Does and later to UP Junior Old Timer’s club where she participated in meetings and conventions.  After retirement, she enjoyed decorating her home for the seasons and holidays.

Joan moved to Pendleton several years ago where she resided at Elizabethan Manor; while there she made several close friends whom she checked on regularly.

Joan in survived by her children:  Barbara Wilson of Milton-Freewater, Michael Jones (Marge) of Pendleton, and Donna Jones (Raul Ochoa) of North Platte.  Also surviving Joan are her grandchildren:  Casey Jones (Jessica) with children Lilly, Cordelia and Bishop of Beaverton, OR and Kathryn Keshner (Elliot) of Denver, Amber Ochoa of Omaha with son Phoenix and Ryan Ochoa of Kaerney, NE along with her siblings:  Dona Herndon of North Platte, Robert Refior (JoEllen) of Colorado Springs and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to Agape House in Hermiston, OR.

Per her request no public service will be held for Joan.

Joan was a high school classmate at NPHS. Too many of our graduating class have left us. Thoughts and prayers to Joan's family at this difficult time. It's always hard to say a final earthly good-bye.

Thank you for your kind words Jean. Mom often talked of her high school days and classmates.
