Dear Applegates, I am so sorry for your loss. My parents thought highly of Karen. My Dad helped supervise her student teaching and then taught with her on the PHS faculty for many years. He always remarked upon how smart and capable she was, just an outstanding English teacher. My mother knew Karen as a student and later as a friend and fellow golfer. Karen touched many lives and will be remembered fondly. Rest in peace.

A gentle, but tough as steel woman who made a deep impact on my life. Although we lived miles and miles apart and didn't see each other often in our later years, my heart has always been with her and her husband Larry. For some reason, I think of her steadfast dedication to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch during our grade school years.I can see her at the swimming pool in high school in her white bathing suit. I loved her giggle. May she rest in peace.

Karen and I were good chums in grade school. Shared birthday parties, weekends at the Nelson ranch, and many other nice memories are now floating through my head. My thoughts and prayers are with Larry and family.

I have such very fond memories of Karen & Larry Applegate for being Pendleton High Schools absolutely gorgeous "dreamy" admired young married couple sharing teaching professions together at Pendleton High I had Karen as an English teacher in 1970 or 71. She made a very positive impact in my life & education. She was such a naturally pretty, soft spoken, gracious young teacher. I looked up to her as a teacher, a sweet kind person, and such a pretty and classy lady. I am sorry to learn of her passing. I have your family in my prayers. My sincere condolences and deepest sympathy.
