Liam Patrick Flanagan-Hinkle left this world peacefully in his mother’s arms on January 21, 2018 at Randall’s Children Hospital in Portland, Oregon, after an eight day battle with an infection called necrotizing bacterial fasciitis. He was born on July 6, 2009 in Pendleton, Oregon to Sara Hebard.  From the moment he came into her life he has always been her pride and joy, and her little hero… but heaven needed him. He was a ray of sunshine that brought everyone happiness everywhere he went. His smile was so bright that you couldn’t help but catch it. He loved helping his dad Scott doing chores on the farm. He always had a smile to share and his kindness was endless . He enjoyed the simple things in life and made a friend wherever he went, he knew no strangers. He always stuck up for others, put others before himself and protected those who he cared about. He loved camo, and everything Batman.

Liam is survived by his parents, Sara Hebard and Scott Hinkle, and also his brothers Cole Hinkle, 14, Eli Hinkle, 10, Caleb Hinkle, 3.  He was preceded in death by Mary Hebard, his grandmother.

Liam’s Celebration of Life will be held at Pilot Rock High School Gym in Pilot Rock, Oregon on Saturday, February 10 th at noon. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Liams GoFund Me page www.gofundme.com/liam-flanagan. You can also donate at Banner Bank in Pendleton, or Old West Credit Union. Proceeds will be used for medical expenses and to start Liam’s Legacy Foundation to help others. Rest in peace and fly high Liam Patrick. We love you with all of our
hearts.

I live in Maryland, near DC, and I wanted to send my condolences, and let you know that Liam has touched the lives of many across the United States. I am extremely sorry for the loss of your Liam. I hope that your hearts and minds can be at ease knowing that he was not alone and was very loved in his last moments. Liam was an exceptional child. I know you would of given anything to see Liam be okay. I hope that the rest of your babies are now home and safe and sound and I am extremely sorry for you and your family's loss. May Liam rest peacefully in your hearts and minds. You are right, this is a cruel world, this never should have happened. I am very very sorry that more could not have been done to save his life. It sounds like his wound was not cleaned and disinfected correctly, and you were not told to check it each day. We unfortunately now live in a world without Liam.
