.James Oliver Jones, 92, was born on October 1, 1925 to Gordon Jones and Irene (Finley) Jones and grew up there on his grandparents Jim & Sarah Finley’s Hall Creek Ranch in Ferry County, Washington. Always proud of this Native American Heritage and a member of the Lake band of the Colville. Jim died at home in Pendleton from complications of influenza and advanced age.
Sadly, Jim was preceded in death by his wife Yvonne, his wife Muriel, son Kevin Jones, and his grandson Killian Jones.

He is survived by his wife of the last 22 years Elizabeth (Betty) Jones, brother Jack Jones, daughter Lori (Jim) McReynolds of Priest Lake, Idaho, son Kennan (Colleen) Jones of Spokane, Washington, and daughter Lisa (Tom) Kendall of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Also survived by his Aunt Marion, grandchildren Jori, Ken Jr., Oliver, Steve, Jacqui, Eric, Tim, Kara, Jonella, Tamara, Sarah and Jaime. Also his step children, Kay (Lanny) Eason of Neahkahnie, Oregon and Jayne (Terry) Clarke of Pendleton.

Jim attended De Smet Indian School in Idaho before he went into the Army Engineer Corps serving the Pacific Theatre in Japan and the Philippines, earning the Bronze Star and the Philippine Liberation Medal among commendations.

After 40 years of working for Central Pre-Mix Jim began his consulting business operating it until his retirement in 2006. Jim loved spending time with Betty watching the wildlife around their property and sharing time with his children, step children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends.

Rosary at 10:45 Saturday February 3, 2018 at St. Andrew’s Mission, 48022 St. Andrews Road followed by Mass and burial. Luncheon following.
The family is very grateful to the loving and skilled caregivers (Kelly, Dot, Matt, Eileen, Sierra, and Julie) who watched over Jim daily and helped Betty provide the best care possible in his declining years.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Mary’s Outreach, Inc. Pendleton as there was not much more Jim loved than to share a good meal with friends and family.
