Albert “Abe” L Giesler, age 75, of Pilot Rock passed away at his cabin at Indian Lake on Friday, July 25th, 2020.

Albert, who went by Abe, was born April 12th, 1945 in Wenatchee, WA to his parents Bertha
and John Geisler. At a young age his family moved to Pilot Rock, OR where he went to school and worked at the saw mill. Eventually he met his wife, Janie Geisler, with whom he spent the next 39 years with raising two children and multiple grandchildren.

Abe worked 23 years at the Umatilla County Road Department until his retirement in 2010.
Abe was an avid outdoorsman who spent much of his free time hunting, fishing, and off-roading. He also enjoyed spending time at the family cabin at Indian Lake just outside of Pilot Rock. Whether enjoying a cookout with friends and family or spending all day working on a project, he loved spending his time up there. He was always willing to lend a hand to his family and friends when they needed it and cultivated many friendships throughout his life in Oregon. When he wasn’t enjoying the outdoors, you could always find him chatting with his friends over a cup of coffee, or enjoying a NASCAR race.

Abe is survived by his wife Janie, his mother Bertha, his children Andrea and Brian, his grandchildren Trevor, Cade, and Ashton, and his nephew Jeremy, among other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father John and his sister Barb.

A graveside service will be held Friday, July 31st at 2pm at Pilot Rock Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Bob and Lana Sepolen and Officer Daniel Badal for their selfless assistance in their time of need.

Sending my condolences to Janie, his mom and all that loved him. I remember Albert so well as we were classmates all 12 years. When I think of Albert I always think of a really nice guy. I remember Janie as being the “little sister” of another classmate. Also his mother was Our class room mother more than once. Albert will be missed. Love From School Classmate. I am very sorry and saddened to see this news about Abe. He was a friend, an upper classmate, and an all around good person. I will always remember his cars and the motorcycle he let me use.
Janie, I know this time is extra hard to deal with, but remember Abe is at peace now and is working to make a place for you at his side.
Its been a couple of years since we had seen each other, but when we did it was like we had talked just yesterday. Abe was just a good person and he will be missed.

Albert was the sweetheart and I will miss him so very much. I saw the way he doted and cared for his family. He would do anything to make Janie happy!! It is a rare thing to have someone so special as a stepfather too. I saw Albert doing his very best for all his children, grandchildren and family. He was at all the sporting events, Birthdays, Anniversaries, Holidays... just everything that is special, that a family man does. He was loved because he loved so much! Bless his heart, he was amazing in his simple and unselfish ways. Much Love to all. Love, Julie, Joe, Jake and Lane

Albert was my cousin & we grew up together in the same neighborhood. He was a very loving & compassionate person. Until Covid prevented it he visited his mother @ Juniper House regularly several times a week. I always looked forward to seeing him when I came back to Pilot Rock. He will be sorely missed. Praying for God's comfort for Janie, Andrea & Brian.

Sending our condolences today due to Abe's passing. He was a sweet, kind and gentle man. A very good friend to our father John McGuire. I was fortunate enough to spend time with him during hunting season over the years. He would always greet you with a smile, a laugh and a big hug. Now he and Dad will be able to share stories together. With love Karie & Joe Shelley and Kody McGuire.
