|Dear family of Doug and Linda,
offering my deepest and most sincere condolences from Prague, Czech Republic. May the souls of the beloved couple rest in peace. I was so saddened to hear this unexpected news and I wish you peace and comfort as you grief.
Doug and Linda usually called me their "Czech son" since they looked after me in 1999-2000 while studying in Ukiah. Although there was a difference of over 40 years between us, we quickly became friends, spent our free time together, shared the same sense of humour and loved to laugh. We have been in contact to these days via phone and also letters and I am lucky that I was able to visit them in Ukiah a year ago before the Covid period. So, I am sending to Doug and Linda my last letter in this world, although my memories will last forever.
Dear Doug and Linda,
I would like to thank you for your support, care and love during my studies in Ukiah. I am so grateful for everything you have done for me to feel like at home, even though I was thousands of miles away from my homeland. I have realized how important this was for me and how your care and approach also formed my personality. Thank you for your fishing lessons, even I was losing heavily in number of fish compared to you, Doug. I enjoyed every minute of laugh with both of you, every minute was a gift.
Your Czech son Jan

Words can never fill the void in my heart for the loss of my good friends. Linda my (Sister/Friend)I will forever miss our chats, lunches, and the lengthy letters of just catching up on life that I always looked forward too. I will miss Doug’s great sense of humor, and gentle nature. Giving you both little Katie the rambunctious Yorkie was nothing short of total delight for you both! To have only visited with you both before Christmas with a bag of newspapers for your reading and Wood stove burning. The 30 years of friendship will be forever cherished. Thoughts and prayers to their families, sons and daughter(your Mom and Dad loved you so much Tammy) and the many friends they collected along their lives path.
