To all of Duanes family that I love very much I want to tell you how sorry I am . Duane and I grew up in the small town of Union Oregon and Ive known him all my life ..His sister carol was one of my very best friends and he was two yrs younger then me. He loved to tease us as children. His mother made the best biscuits and gravy Ive ever eaten.. His father in law married my late husband Gordon and I.. My son Brad went on many trips with him from Catherine Creek to Wallowa Lake with the boy scouts and he taught him all things that might happen in the mountains and how to deal with the situations. Duane has truly lived a long life to be celebrated.. A good man that touched my families lifves in so many ways.. Chris what a blessing you have been in his life and the loneliness the two of you could bring together for a much happier life .. Bless you my sweet friend . I pray your love , faith and memories will help you cope with your loss.. My love to you alway's,
Jan

My heartfelt condolences to the Wood families.  I would like to tell you all something about your husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Although being in the second ward growing up Dwane always knew who I was and was always kind and interested.  As I grew older and unfortunately became inactive in the church, I would see Dwane around town periodically and I always felt kindness and a genuine interest in how I was doing, but with no judgement attached.  When I moved away, went to college, and started in my career I would hear kind things about Dwane and the service he and others I respected from my youth were doing for my family and others.  The kind of things that made me want to be better than I was.

The kind of love and patient example Dwane gave everyone helped turn me back to the gospel and today I have my own forever family and try to exemplify Dwane at home, at work, at play and in the bishopric of my ward.  I give thanks to Dwane for the love and kindness he gave.  I also give thanks for his family and their patience for the long hours of service he was giving.

Sincerely,
A forever thankful son of our Heavenly Father.
