Cleoma Lynn Wendler (Hill), 92, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, at her residence.
Cleoma was born July 1, 1932 in Afton, WY. She had one older brother and two younger brothers. Her father’s job in the ship yard brought her family from Wyoming to Oregon during World War II. They lived in Portland and then moved to Weston her freshman year of high school. She graduated from Weston High School in 1950. Cleoma married her high school sweetheart, Glenn, in March of 1951. They raised their four children in Pilot Rock then moved to a small acreage in Mission before purchasing a farm between Pilot Rock and Pendleton where they spent many happy years farming wheat and hosting their eight grandchildren. During this time, Cleoma worked at US Bank as a teller for 25 years. Upon “retiring” she enjoyed working for a few years in the Pendleton Electric office. In 1992, Cleoma and Glenn moved to Pendleton where they enjoyed their retirement and lived until Glenn passed away in 2020.
Cleoma was a very talented woman; she was a fantastic cook, seamstress and quilter. She spent many hours tending her garden on their farm and in Pendleton. She loved her family and friends dearly. Cleoma was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Cleoma is survived by her children Sheldon (Karrin) Wendler, Shannon Hess and Shari (Gary) Shermer, 8 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Rondi, her husband, Glenn, her parents and two brothers.
