Corry Zenger
January 17, 1941 - June 30, 2022
Corry Jergen Zenger was born Jan. 17, 1941, to George and Eledice Zenger in Pendleton, Oregon. He enthusiastically played the drums in the high school band, where he met his sweetheart, Jolene, and sang lead in Pendleton High School’s musical “The Red Mill” his senior year. Corry and Jolene married May 27, 1960, the day after high school graduation, and later welcomed five children, Debbie, Danny, Dean, Dianna, and Darran.
He lived his entire life in Eastern Oregon, where he worked as a purchasing agent for Smith Frozen Foods for 33 years and served on Weston’s city council and as mayor.
Corry was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1964, and spent the remainder of his life in faithful service of
his Heavenly Father. He taught seminary and institute for over 10 years, served as bishop of his Milton-Freewater Ward, and served 17 years as branch president of the church’s organization in the Eastern Oregon Correctional Institute. Corry loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and enjoyed sharing the Light of the Savior by teaching others of the Book of Mormon.
Corry greatly loved his family and learning about his Swiss and German heritage. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons, camping with his grandchildren and reading Louis L'Amour.
Corry passed into the next life on June 30, 2022, to a joyous reunion with his mother and father. He is survived by his brother, Tod; his beloved wife of 62 years, Jolene; five children; 19 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held July 8 at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
in Pendleton. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
