Dean Roy Obituary

Dean Emory Roy, age 72, passed away on June 6, 2026. Dean was born on November 17, 1953, in Pendleton, Oregon, to Don and Marie Roy.

Dean grew up in a family that cherished the outdoors. Many of his fondest memories were made at the family cabin, where he spent time with his parents, brother, cousins, and friends hunting, exploring, and enjoying one another's company. In later years, the cabin remained a special gathering place where family and friends came together to reminisce, share stories, and appreciate the beauty of the outdoors.

Dean is survived by his loving wife, Theresa Roy; his son, Levi Roy (Amber); his daughter, Nicole McVittie(Tyler); Stepsons, Shane Palm (Kristine); Brice Palm, his brother, Jim Roy (Dee); and his cousins Shannon Roy, Jackie Feik (Bryan), Bonda Powell, and Mona Powell, Rick Hascall (Joan); Tom Hascall (Rhonda) and 5 grand kids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Marie Roy, and his beloved cousins, Mike Roy and Cindy Powell.

Dean will be remembered for his deep love of animals. Whether dogs, cats, birds, or any creature that crossed his path, he had a special way of showing them kindness and affection. He especially loved the many corgis that were part of his family throughout the years.

He also found great joy in gardening and spending time outdoors. As a surveyor, Dean viewed his work as more than a job—it was an adventure. He took immense pride in his profession and often shared stories about the places he traveled and the people he met along the way. His passion for his work and the outdoors remained with him throughout his life.

A graveside service for family and friends will be held on June 27th, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Pilot Rock Cemetery. Dean will be laid to rest near his parents, Don and Marie Roy.

Dean's kindness, love for family, devotion to animals, and appreciation for the outdoors will be remembered by all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed.
