Dennis “Denny” Henshaw, 94, died Thursday, July 31, 2025, after suffering from congestive heart failure.
A funeral will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene in Pendleton on August 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Chris Clemons officiating. A reception will follow at the church and interment will be at Olney Cemetery.
Denny was born in Hamburg, Iowa, on February 9, 1931, to Eula Belle and Dennis Clifford Henshaw. He graduated from Hamburg High School in 1949. On May 25, 1950, he married Ruth English in Panama City Beach, Florida, where he was stationed with the Air Force. Until 1951, he lived in Hamburg and Shenandoah, Iowa. He then moved to the Pendleton/Pilot Rock area.
Denny was employed by the saw mill in Pilot Rock, where he eventually worked his way up to head sawyer. He worked at the mill for 40 years. During this time, and after his retirement in 1992, he helped his wife design and build several houses in the Pilot Rock/Pendleton area.
Mr. Henshaw and his wife began wintering in Yuma, Arizona, in 1994. He enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends, going to church, traveling, being in the mountains, and playing games, particularly Sequence. He was a member of the Nazarene Church and loved Jesus very much.
Denny is survived by his daughter, Becky, and sons Larry and Denny, all of Pendleton, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and his special friend, Kay Ayers. He is also survived by his brother, John Henshaw, three half-sisters , and two step-sisters, along with several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Ruth, and sisters, Connie Miller and Sue Martin.
Memorial contributions can be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, 2801 SW Hailey Ave., in Pendleton, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, please hold Dad in fond remembrance as the wonderful friend, dad, and grandpa he was.
