Douglas Elwood Green died May 21, 2022 at Suttle Care and Retirement in Pendleton. He was born December 25, 1931 in Pendleton to Charley and Delpha (Owen) Green. He attended school in Pendleton and graduated from Pendleton High School in 1950. He served in the United States Navy as a 2nd Class Petty Officer working as a metalist on aircrafts.
On May 21, 1955, he married Margaret I. Ober at Pendleton’s Peace Lutheran Church, where he was a member. They lived in Pilot Rock for 20 years and then moved back to Pendleton.
Douglas was employed by Shafer Radiation Shop in Pendleton, the US Gypsum, Louisiana Pacific, and retired from Masonite in December of 1992. He taught gun safety classes to the youth in Pilot Rock. He also enjoyed the outdoors, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. He was awarded Pendleton’s Gardener of the month in 1987. He loved traveling and belonged to the Pendleton Travel Club.
Survivors include his daughter, Beverly Green; daughter and her husband Linda and Douglas Barnes; son and his wife Gary and Lisa Green and 5 granddaughters and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret in 2019.
