Gregory Campbell Obituary

Gregory Douglas Campbell 57, passed on Saturday, January 28, 2023.  It was his mother’s 80th birthday.  He left behind some very sad people including his mother, Marva Dawley and his aunt Gail Campbell.  He is also missed by his three cats, Pretty Boy, Axle and Lili.

Greg was born in San Francisco, California on September 26, 1965.  In the 70’s he moved to Eugene, Oregon to be closer to his mom’s family while she went back to school.  Greg worked in various lumber mills as a laborer in the Eugene area.  He also worked as a sous chef in the food industry.  In 2010 Greg moved to Pendleton.  Greg struggled with Epilepsy and had seizures 3-4 times a year.  He dealt with them better that the rest of the family.  When asked where he was from, he always said Eugene, but he finally realized he loved the Blue Mountains surrounding Pendleton, so he eventually said, “I’m from Pendleton.”

Greg loved to travel and some of his favorite places to go were Summit Road looking for Penstemon and the Big Headed clover, driving up Fox Hill to go to Indian Rock and watching the deer and wildlife at McKay Reservoir.  In the fall and spring, he liked to drive to Echo while enjoying the canyons and Umatilla River.  At Christmas time he would go to Shore Acres Park in Charleston, Oregon to view all the lights.  He also loved visiting Astoria, Oregon where he could watch all the ships in the Columbia River.  Greg also like kayaking and camping.  Needless to say; he totally embraced the outdoors and all its wonders.
