Hilda Blair Obituary

Heaven gained another Angel. Hilda Elizabeth Blair went to be with our Lord on September 19,2023. Hilda was born on September 12, 1927, in Norton, Kansas to Reverand James Dresden McDaniel and Hilda Ruth Davis McDaniel. The family moved to many places during her childhood, following his work for the Lord. Hilda graduated from high school in Tacoma, Washington. After graduation, the family moved to Medford, Oregon where she met and married the love of her life, Thomas Eugene Blair.

Thomas worked in construction, so their family also moved for many years, until settling in Pendleton in 1962. They raised their children, Douglas, Debara, Gordon, Beth, and Jeffrey. Their home was open to all. They cared for many foster children and friends to their children.

Hilda was always regularly active in her children's activities, Blue Birds, Camp Fire, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and PTA, and church youth group. She also loved Christain Womens Club, making monthly favors for each woman. She was incredibly talented. Hilda was an amazing seamstress. She made her children’s clothing. Each Easter she made matching Easter dresses and vests for her children and her niece and nephew. She also made Wedding Dresses for her daughters and daughters-in-law.

Following Gene’s passing, Hilda did some traveling with dear friends. Many of her trips were to her grandchildren's graduation and weddings. She loved visiting family and friends.

Hilda was preceded in death by her Husband and infant daughter Barbara Jo, her parents, her brother Rex McDaniel and sisters Wanda Morris and Joan Hutton. Son-in-laws, Tyko Groves and Marc Schlotthauer. Daughter-in-laws, Brigdett Whalen and Ema Blair. Great Granddaughter Blair Emery Cleaver.

Hilda is survived by children Douglas and Susan Blair, Debara and Wesley Cleaver, Gordon and Connie Blair, Elizabeth and John Reynolds, Jeffrey Blair, and Sally Farrow. Hilda was blessed with the love of 22 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Great Great Grandchildren.

Hilda lived a full and blessed life. Her passing has touched many. She is home now, peacefully rejoicing with the Lord and loved ones in Heaven.

There will be a reception following the graveside at First Church of God in Pendleton.
