John Gilson March 13, 1937 - October 20, 2025 John, 88, of Pendleton was born in New York City and raised in Columbus, Ohio.
He proudly served in the US Army for 27 years. In 1958, during his first of four tours in Germany, he married Hermine. After 66 years of marriage, she passed in June 2024.
John is survived by his two children, Alice (Gordon) Hepburn and Tikhon/Andrew Gilson both of Pendleton. After many years battling Lewy Body Dementia, he is finally at peace.
The staff in the memory care unit of Desire for Healing in Mission OR took such great care of him and showed him such loving compassion even when it was difficult. His family is very grateful for their tender care. If you feel called to make a donation in honor of John, please consider giving to the Lewy Body Dementia Association or Vange John Hospice at at Good Shepherd Hospital in Hermiston OR or a charity of your choosing - he was a great supporter of non-profit organizations. No formal services are planned.
