JUDITH (“JUDY”) LYNN MASTERS REW (1936-2022)

            Judith Lynn Masters Rew (“Judy”) passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home March 31, 2022, in Pendleton, Oregon.

            Judy was born September 8, 1936, in Portland, Oregon.  She was the only child of Archie and Phyllis Masters.  She lived with her parents in Portland until 1945 when she moved with her mother to Horseshoe Bay, British Columbia, Canada.  While living in Portland Judy was named a 1945 Portland Rose Festival Junior Princess.

            In 1947, Judy moved with her parents to Pendleton, Oregon.  She graduated from Pendleton High School in 1954 and went on to attend Oregon State University where she was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority.  Judy married Larry Rew in June 1957.  In 1958, Larry and Judy moved to Walla Walla, Washington to attend Whitman College.  Thereafter, they moved to Salem, Oregon to live while Larry attended Willamette Law School.  Upon Larry’s graduation from law school in 1961, they returned home to Pendleton to live and raise their children.  Judy lived in Walla Walla, Washington for a few years and moved back to Pendleton to be closer to family and friends.

            Judy was an avid reader, great cook, loved playing bridge and golfing with friends.  She loved to entertain, travel, and spend time with family and her many dogs.  She was a member of  the Episcopal Church, as well as many local social and cultural clubs including PEO, Current Literature Club, Kill Kare, Dinner Dance and the Christmas Cotillion.  Judy was known for her humor, wit, and kindness and beloved by family and friends.

            Judy is survived by her son Robin Rew of Taos, New Mexico, her daughter Shawna Rew-Blanc (David) of Pendleton; her grandchildren Sage Rew of San Antonio, Texas, Jessa Rew O’Reilly (Brendan) of Boerne, Texas, Nick Blanc (Shannon) of Pendleton, and Zack Blanc of San Diego, California; and great grandchildren Wyatt Rew, Boerne, Texas and Brooks Blanc, Pendleton.

            Judy was preceded in death by her husband Larry Rew and her parents Archie and Phyllis Masters and her many dogs.

            A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 8th at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Pendleton, Oregon with a luncheon immediately following the service.  Memorial donations in Judy’s honor may be made to Pendleton Foundation Trust or the local charity of your choice.
