Kenneth M. Garrett was born in La Grande, Oregon on December 1, 1931, to Homer and Martha Garrett. He died May 24, 2024, Pendleton, Oregon. he graduated from Emmett, Idaho High School in 1950.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1951. Served in Japan for 14 months. In 1955 he received a honorable discharge, after serving four years.
He married Georgia A. Schaefer on May 18, 1957. They were married 67 years. They had two sons, Allen and Brian. Kenneth worked 24 years at the Pendleton Fire Department. He was Captain when he retired in December 1987.
Kenneth was a member of the First Church of God, V.F.W. Post 922, Friends of the Library, and the Pendleton Air Museum.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Georgia, sons; Allen K. Garrett (Nanette) and Brian K. Garrett (Linda). Four grandchildren; Daniel, Seth, Rebecca, and Matthew. One great grandchild, Lillian (Rebecca's daughter) and three step grandchildren; Tyler, Caitlin, and Elsa. One step great grandson, Khai (Elsa's son).
Kenneth was proceeded in death by his parents and sister Joanne.
A graveside service will be held May 30, 2024, at Olney Cemetery in Pendleton, Oregon. Services provided by Pendleton Pioneer Chapel, Folsom-Bishop
