Larry Rawe Obituary

Obituary: Larry Gene Rawe (May 15, 1948 - May 22, 2024)
Larry Gene Rawe, beloved husband, father, and friend, tragically passed away May 22, 2024.
Although he was chronologically 76, he was anything but elderly. He was born on May 15, 1948,
to Gene and Jeanette Rawe in Tillamook, Oregon.
Larry led a life characterized by integrity, hard work, dedication to his loved ones and steadfast
commitment to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. After ending a successful college basketball
career, he joined the National Guard and began a career in pest control, fumigating grain ships,
becoming a pilot which ultimately led to a career in aviation, air charter and airport management
for 30+ years.
Larry's greatest joy in life was his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife of over 55
years, Susie, and a loving father to his three children. He also cherished spending time with his
grandchildren sharing stories, imparting wisdom, and creating unforgettable memories.
Beyond his family, Larry was known throughout the community for his hard work and as the
community’s reliable “bug-getter”. His quiet strength, coupled with a fondness for practical jokes
as well as goofy and affectionate nicknames, endeared him to all who crossed his path,
fostering unique connections that live in the hearts of many.
In his free time, Larry enjoyed taking his dog Bitsy on walks, shooting off pigeons to the point
that they knew his vehicle, riding his motorcycle, spotting elk, collecting antique stoves and
Farmall tractors, and being with family while his old southern gospel music was on repeat.
Larry leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness that will be cherished by all who
had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his wife Susie Rawe, his children Geoff
Rawe (Michelle), Jaycie Rawe, Brianne McCann (Jason), grandchildren Carsen Rawe, Elle
Blakely, Barrett Laws, Liam McCann, five siblings Janet Parks (Gary), Duane Rawe (Lynette),
Nancy Skeen (Mel), Lynda Watt (Dale), Sally Cranston, brothers-in-law Bob “Perk” Hart (Becky),
Mike Hart (Joanna) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and
mother, Gene and Jeanette Rawe, in-laws Robert and Bette Hart, brother-in-law Steve Hart and
son-in-law Chad Loomis.  While he may no longer be with us in person, his legacy will continue
to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
A funeral will take place on June 8th at 11:00am in the West Room of the Pendleton Convention Center
