Margaret Hudemann Obituary

Margaret ( Marge) Hale Hudemann, 107 years passed peacefully November 3rd 2025 at Parkview of Wheatland, Walla Walla Washington. 

Margaret was born May 25th, 1918, in Brownsville, Oregon to Herbert M Hale and Myrtle Boyles Hale. When Margaret was one year old her parents moved to a farm in the Helix area. During 3rd and 4th grade she rode her horse 5 MI to school and back. Marge attended OSU for one year. She helped her parents on the farm until she married in 1940. 

Margaret married Ferdie Hudemann May 8th, 1940, in Athena Oregon. She was married in a suit rather than a wedding dress. When Marge and Ferdie got into their 1936 Ford coupe to go on a honeymoon, Ferdie asked Marge, "How much money do you have? She said, 47 cents”. When Marge asked Ferdie, he said, "about $70." They went to Victoria BC for one week!

Ferdie was a farmer, so farming was their livelihood both in the Stanfield and Helix areas. 

Margaret and Ferdie have two daughters, Marjean Corey (Daryl) and Patti Ann Anderson

(Rich) deceased, who now live on the Hudemann and Hale farms.

 Margaret was an active member of Trinity, Peace Lutheran Church and the Adams Community Church.

In 1940 she and Mabel Vaughn started a club, TAT (Tuesday at two) for young farm wives in the Helix area, During World War II this group wrapped bandages for the military. The TAT second and third generation still meet monthly. Marge was an active member of Pollyanna social club in Stanfield and Hermiston.

Marge and Ferdie traveled in a motor home to 40 + states. They also traveled to Europe, New Zealand and the Orient. 

Margaret's hobbies were decorating, sewing, knitting, cross stitching, entertaining and antiquing. She also played the piano.

 

When asked what she loved most about her life she said, “My family and motor homing," which she was able to enjoy even to her 107th year.

She is survived by her daughters, Marjean Corey (Daryl), Patti Ann Anderson ( Rich) deceased, 5 grandchildren, Darla Corey, Mark Corey(Kirsten),David Anderson, Kelly Anderson (Dianna) and Katy Anderson Laumb (Cody); 4 great grandchildren, Morgan Warner (Aaron), Anna Corey Baldwin ( Charley), Amanda Corey Nydam (Luke), Colton Rich Laumb; two great great grandsons, Nico and Nyjah Morrow and several dear nieces and nephews.
