Margaret Ellen Fernalld-Picard

July 4, 1952 – April 8, 2022

Margaret Ellen Fernalld-Picard, age 69, formerly of Pendleton, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2022 at Good Shepherd Hospital in Hermiston.  She was known by many as “Marty”.

Margaret was the daughter of Warren C. and A. Louise (Miller) Fernalld.  Her family lived in Wallowa at the time of her birth.  Her place of birth was Enterprise, Oregon.  Her brother Rick was 5 years old at the time and vividly recalls the ride from Wallowa to Enterprise!

Margaret lived the first few years of her life in Wallowa, Pendleton and Enterprise, settling in Pendleton for the duration of her school years.  She graduated from Pendleton High School with the Class of 1972.

She enjoyed visiting with and caring for the elderly.  She acquired her CNA certification while working at the nursing homes in Pendleton.  Margaret was an active member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles for nearly 35 years.

For those of you who knew Margaret, you knew that she was an encephalitis survivor.  She would say, “I was raised to never say I can’t”.  She always had a smile for everyone.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Warren C. and A. Louise (Miller) Fernalld and her younger sister Tamara Gambill.  She is survived by her daughter Tanna Fernalld and grandson Garret Brinkley; siblings, Lynn Muir, Ruth Dalton, Richard (Joyce) Fernalld, Katherine (Leo) Doherty, Kevin (Marsha) Fernalld and brother-in-law Kurtis Gambill.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Margaret at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14th at the Pendleton Pioneer Chapel, Folsom-Bishop.  A reception will follow the service at the Chapel.
