Mike Boylen Obituary

Mike Boylen, 92 died Monday, October 3, 2022, at his residence at Juniper House in Pendleton, Oregon.

He was born September 14, 1930, to E. N. “Pink” and Geraldine Boylen. He lived his life in Pendleton.

He was active in high school sports and clubs, exceling in football, basketball and running the medium distances in track.

Mike attended Oregon State University and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He later entered the Airforce and was stationed in Newfoundland.

He returned to marry Tricia Lawrence in 1952 and had four daughters.

He was Superintendent of finishing and warehouse for 37 years at Masonite Corporation in Pilot Rock, Oregon, formerly known as Oregon Fiber, US Gypsum and Wood Fiber Industries.

He was an active member in the community as a Happy Canyon Director, Round Up Volunteer, Board Member on the St. Anthony Hospital Board, and Board Member on the Pendleton School District Board of which his last year he was Board Chairman.

Mike loved to travel with his wife Tricia. They enjoyed their travels to Europe, Hawaii and the Virgin Islands. After the death of his wife, he traveled regularly to California to visit his daughter, Beth, and loved his walks on the beach. He spent hours watching his grandchildren’s sports and activities and many of their friends just called him Granddad. He was a regular on the Riverwalk with his dog Ebby until his health declined. When not traveling or watching the grandkids he was on the golf course with his best friends. He was so proud of his numerous holes in one.

He was proceeded in death by his wife, Tricia Boylen, daughter, Michaele Boylen, son-in-law Rick McIntyre, sisters Marilyn and Donne Boylen, and his parents Pink and Geri Boylen.

Survivors include his brother, Lester Bruce Boylen, daughters Marta Boylen, Beth McIntyre, and Bridget Van Cleave (Leroy); grandchildren Rian Beach (Rachel), Keely Beach (Leah), Natalie Bailey (Chris), Drew Van Cleave (Jenny), Jacob Van Cleave (Meghan) and seven great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Creekside (Free Methodist) Church.  A Celebration of his life will follow the service at the Pendleton Convention Center.  Donations can be made to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, Washington or charity of your choice.  Online condolences may be shared at www.pioneerchapel.com.
