Loving father & husband of 58 years, Patrick Loughary passed away quietly at his home in Pendleton after a long struggle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was born in Pendleton to Thomas H. Loughary of Stanfield & Rita Cunha Loughary of Echo. Patrick grew up & attended school in Portland; earned his BS from Pacific University & his M.Ed. from Central Washington State College. His first job was as a counselor/instructor/asst. baseball coach at MHCC. He then took a position as head counselor/instructor & eventually Assist. Dean of Instruction in the formation of a new community college – Rogue Community College. In 1977, the family moved to Pendleton, where Patrick served as the Dean of College & Student Services at BMCC until his retirement in 1999.
Patrick enjoyed hunting, fishing, cars of every make & model & time with family & friends. He is survived by his wife, Janet; sister, Kathleen Moffenbier (International Falls, MN); daughter, Kristen Graber & husband Mike; son Michael Loughary & wife Deena (Dallas, OR); grandchildren: Kori Hibbard & husband Zach; Kaci, Kelsey & Kenzie Graber & Madelyn, Emma & Thomas Loughary; & great grandchildren Lane & Haddie Hibbard.
To family & friends, Patrick was known as the “Lazy Leprechaun” always ready with an Irish toast accompanied by a wee sip of Ireland’s finest!
