Rene'e Bishop Obituary

Our beloved, Renee Ramsey Bishop, 88, of Pendleton, Oregon, died Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Chaplaincy Hospice House in Kennewick, Washington. She was born April 28, 1934 in Ogden, Utah.

Preceding her in death was her adored husband Sanford (Sandy) Wayne Bishop; her parents, Orville Samuel Ramsey and Martha Ann Simmons Ramsey Breaid;  Stepfather, Whitlaw (Whitey) Breaid; and grandson Cody Furstenberg.

Renee is survived by her sister, Geri Ramsey Keylock (Boise, Idaho); daughter, Jill Megehee (Michael Megehee) of Richland, Washington; sons, Mark Bishop (Lori Bryan) and Scott Bishop (Tara Bishop) of Pendleton, Oregon.  Her six living grandchildren include: Alison Renee Megehee-Carlson, Mark Megehee, Caleb Bishop, Zara Bishop Van Etta, Max Bishop and Molly Renee Bishop.  In addition, she has nine great-grandchildren and two nieces and one nephew.

In her heart, Pendleton, Oregon was always “home” to Renee.  In 1936, when she was two years old, her parents moved to Pendleton.  Renee attended Lincoln Grade School and graduated from Pendleton High School in 1950. After graduation she attended Oregon State University.  A year later she attended a dental assisting program in San Francisco, California.  Upon completion, she returned to Oregon and took a job with a dentist in Salem.  It was here that she rekindled a high school friendship with Sandy Bishop.  Renee and Sandy were married September 11, 1955 in Pendleton.  In 1969, after years of living on the west side of the state, she and Sandy returned to Pendleton where they purchased Folsom Funeral Chapel.  It later became known as Bishop Funeral Chapel and is currently Pioneer Chapel.

She extended love and service to those she helped in her professional life, friends, service organizations, and those in need.  The mantra she lived by are words to a hymn; “Have I done any good in the world today? Have I helped anyone in need?”  She was always thinking of and going about doing “good”.  She especially loved to send little notes of encouragement or recognition.

Her greatest strength and joy in this life was her faith in Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ. She served faithfully in many capacities as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  She was devoted to her family and found immense joy in serving them.  The role she felt most passionate about was that of mother and grandmother.  She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart.

Services will be held in Pendleton at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (NW 12th and Gilliam) on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 10:00 am.  The funeral service will conclude at the chapel followed by a private family internment at Olney Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pendleton Foundation Trust or to Latter-Day Saint Charities found at https://philanthropies.churchofjesuschrist.org/humanitarian-services or a charity of your choice.
