Rhonda Marie Soft Obituary

Rhonda Marie Soft, 54, of Brush Prairie, Washington passed on at her home, surrounded by family, and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 7, 2024. Rhonda was born on May 14, 1970 in Hermiston, Oregon, daughter of John and Connie (Johnson) Otis.

Rhonda grew up in Hermiston, Oregon in a home just off Diagonal Road before moving to Pendleton, Oregon to continue her education at Blue Mountain Community College where she obtained an Associate of Science Degree in Marketing and Management and a Certificate in General Business-Retail Clerk. Rhonda also started a career in real estate appraisal working at the Island Appraisal Company. In this time, her faith in the Savior Jesus Christ became foundational through her steadfast study in His Word. Rhonda became a member of the Pendleton First Free Methodist Church and was eventually introduced to Rodney Soft by her future father-in-law, Roland Soft. Rodney and Rhonda were married on April 24, 1993 by their brother-in-law, Rev. Alan E. Wyland.

Once married, Rodney’s career took them to Spokane, Washington where they became active in the Church of the Nazarene and lived for over three years.

In 1996, another career move brought Rodney and Rhonda to Brush Prairie, Washington where they started their family, and Rhonda lived for the remaining 28 years of her life. Rhonda was dedicated to sharing her faith in Jesus Christ and poured her life into raising their 4 children. She volunteered in her kids’ classrooms and was respected by teachers and the Hockinson School Board administration for bringing Christian values into the instructional curriculum review committee. Rhonda attended and served the Lord at Fourth Plain Church of the Nazarene where she embodied Christ’s love by coordinating the Care 2 Share community out-reach program and spent over ten years coaching Children’s bible quizzing.

Rhonda is survived by her husband of 31 years, Rodney Soft; their four children: Russell Soft, Rebekah Soft, Rhianna Soft, and Reuben Soft; her parents: John and Connie Otis of Hermiston,
Oregon; her brother Troy (Laurie) Otis of Anna, Ohio; along with many other relatives and friends whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Ward and Irene Otis, John L. Jr. and Getta Johnson; and her parents-in-law Roland and Ann Soft.
