Robert Lazinka Obituary

Robert Henry Lazinka was born in Pendleton, Oregon October 29th, 1937 of parents Henry Hans Lazinka Jr. and Jennie Marie Johnson Lazinka.

Bob's youthful years were spent on the family ranch located on the 1882 Homestead location in Ukiah, Oregon and the ranch in the Pilot Rock, Oregon area.

Bob attended schools in Pendleton and during his high school years as a FFA Officer traveled to Kansas City Kansas as a delegate to the FFA National Convention. Bob graduated from Pendleton High School in 1955.

College years included Oregon State College, Eastern Oregon College and Portland State College.

After his college years, Bob returned to the ranch to work with his father. Henry, Bob's father died when bob was 21 and Bob's love and interest in the ranch became more intense and challenging.

In June 1959, Bob and Sandra Wagner married and started the ranch life they enjoyed and valued.

Three children, Mark, Catherine and David were born and carried on a tradition of family ranch work and fun.

Bob's enthusiasm for participating with his families involvement in 4H activities , sows and sales, was priceless. Always available to help wash a steer or a horse, but not without some stress. Not your regular "wrangler work"!

During Bob's working years he stayed involved in the community organizations, active member for the County, State and National Cattlemen Association, School Board member in both Ukiah, Oregon and Pilot Rock, Oregon Board member of the Federal Land Bank. In later years Bob served on the Oregon Board of Forestry and the Oregon Board of Agriculture, positions that provided important industry background and life long friendships.

Retirement involved sale of the ranch and relocation on a property closer to town. Horses and dogs were included in the move and helped in riding for a neighbor and pleasure rides in familiar mountain country.

Many years at a coastal condo was enjoyed with grandkids and travel to the East Coast and South.

Bob and Sandy traveled to Ireland for a special wedding, Germany to visit cousins and to Poland to research the polish grandfather's origin.

Bob is survived by Sandy, his wife of 66 years, his son Mark Henery Lazinka, sister Mary Lou O'Rourke, grandson Casey Dietz (Kahle), grandson Shane Lazinka (Regi), grandson Dallas Lazinka, granddaughter Kayla Wood (Derek), granddaughter Maggie Dietz (Andy O'Neill), granddaughter Aimee Wilson (Matt), seven great granddaughters, one great grandson and quite numerous, special nephews and nieces.

Bob was proceeded in death by his parents, son David Robert Lazinka, daughter Catherine Ann Lazinka Dietz, sisters Kathryn Healy Thorne, Jean Barbouletos and Judy Currin.
