Sayra Story Leake

Sayra Story Leake passed away May 12th, 2024 at her home in Helix, Oregon. She was born February 19, 1933 to George and Bonnie Story in Pendleton. 

Sayra attended Pendleton schools from first grade through graduation from Pendleton High School where she stayed busy with many activities. 

Sayra then attended the University of Oregon and was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. After graduation from the university, she taught first grade on the island of lanai, Hawaii. Upon arrival back to Pendleton, she taught kindergarten for two years at Washington Grade School. In 1956, she met and married Ronald Leake of Helix, where they engaged in wheat farming until his death in 1996. 

Sayra was active in the community. She was a school board member, and part of Women's Club, Juniper Canyon Club, Clod Hoppers, and Pendleton Community Concerts. 

Sayra also taught Sunday School at Helix Baptist Community Church. She was involved in youth activities and she enjoyed family and friends. 

Survivors include her daughter Lisa Bailey of Boulder, Colorado, son Brett Leake of Helix, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 

At her request, no formal services will be held at this time.
