Shirlee Diane (Remillard) Nirschl

Shirlee Diane Nirschl of Pendleton passed away on Tuesday May 26, 2026 at the age of 93. Shirlee was born in a small house, in a small town in Iowa, to Miles and Lois Remillard on August 25, 1932.

The family moved to La Grande, Oregon and in 1946 transferred to Pendleton.

Shirlee attended Pendleton High School and played the drums in the high school band, where she met her life partner and sweetheart, Bill. 

They were married on September 2, 1950 and lived the next 59 years in Pendleton until Bill passed in 2009. 

They were blessed with 3 children. Diane, David and Dan. 

They loved camping and all sports and supported their children in all of their sporting and music endeavors.

She embraced Bill's faith when they married and was a faithful and devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. 

Shirlee was preceded in death by her husband Bill, daughter Diane, her parents, grandparents, granddaughter Dawn and other relatives.

Shirlee is survived by her sons David (Liz) and Dan; one brother Michael; brother-in-law Jim. She is also survived by many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

A Mass will be held for Shirlee on Tuesday, June 16th at 9:30 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pendleton, Oregon. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pendleton Hospice or the charity of your choice.
