Obituary
Shirley Claire Young of Hermiston passed away peacefully on December 29, 2022 at the age of 88 with her family by her side.
She was born on September 29, 1934 in Dayton, Washington to Eugene and Alice McCauley. Alice later divorced Eugene and married Robert Gemmell who became a father figure to her.
On December 22, 1958 Shirley married Keith Young of Power, Montana. Together they raised four children, Danny, Edward, Kim and Haley.
Shirley worked as a phone operator and bookkeeper. The last twenty years of her career was spent as a loan officer for Umatilla County Federal Credit Union in Pendleton Oregon. It was a job she loved with people she cherished.
Her hobbies included refinishing antique furniture, painting, needlepoint, stained glass, crafting. She loved camping and the outdoors. Her greatest joy was her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband Keith, her parents and brothers Robert and Danny. She is survived by her sons Danny (Meredith) and Edward (Donna), her two daughters Kim and Haley, six grandchildren Megan, John, Jessica, Ryan, Jake and Jaime and two great grandsons Gabriel and Easton.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
