Suzanne Fowers Obituary

Ella Suzanne Fowers was called home on April 19, 2025, just shy of celebrating her 91st birthday. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at her son’s home and joined her sweetheart Merrill.

Suzanne was born in Los Angeles, California to Frank and Nellie Van Why. She moved from California to Ogden, Utah at the beginning of World War II. Shortly thereafter they moved to her grandparent's ranch in Ririe, Idaho where she attended school in a one room schoolhouse that she had many cherished memories of.

After the war their ranch was sold and she and her parents moved to Pocatello, Idaho where she attended and graduated from Pocatello High School. She attended BYU Provo for one year and returned to finish her degree in Education at Idaho State College where she met Merrill while crossing the commons and it was love at first sight. Suzanne and Merrill were sealed for Eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They were sweethearts and a good example to all those who knew them.

Suzanne taught high school for one year at American Falls High School before she welcomed the first of three boys into her life. Suzanne served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints during her life, most of them involved her love of teaching. She impacted many lives of the church’s youth, and many visited regularly with her after they grew up.

Suzanne became a widow at an early age and was heartbroken for quite awhile. After a time, she got reacquainted with a longtime family friend, Milo. Milo and Sue spent their twilight years together as constant companions traveling as much as they could.

She enjoyed visiting with friends, family and extended family often. She was blessed with several grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as many others who affectionately called her Nana. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, social gatherings and parties.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Merrill and companion Milo, her brother and his wife. She is survived by her three sons and their spouses, her grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Interment will be at West Weber Cemetery Friday, May 9, 2025, at 10 am followed by a Celebration of Life at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 4524 South 2525 West Roy, Utah at 12:00 pm.
