Virginia Morley Obituary

A funeral service will be held at Pioneer Chapel on Friday June 13, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Virginia’s life.

Virginia Lee “Ginny” Morley passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025 at St. Anthony Hospital with her family by her side. She was 96. Ginny was born in Star, Idaho on November 18, 1928 to Clarence and Lucy Kivett. She joined siblings Elaine, Loran and Johnnie. Two other siblings Lawrence and Lorna (Loran’s twin sister) passed away before her birth.

In 1940 she moved to Pendleton, Oregon, where she attended Pendleton Jr. Academy, and later graduated from Columbia Academy in Battleground, WA. It was there she met her roommate’s brother, Harold Morley. After Harold returned from the Army, he and Ginny married on March 24, 1951. They had three children, Stephen, Linda and Ronda. Their marriage later ended in divorce, but Harold remained an important part of their children’s lives.

Virginia was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one great- great grandchild. She was known lovingly as “Granny” to those who knew her well. To her great grandchildren she was affectionately called “GG”.  Her deep devotion to family and friends, along with her boundless love, generosity and great sense of humor, left a lasting imprint on everyone who knew her.

Ginny enjoyed a good game of pool and truly loved to read.  Books about Angels were her favorite. She also found joy in making handmade greeting cards, and was known to hit a yard sale or two.

While working at EOSH & TC for 29 years she made many friends. Her dedication to work was unwavering; at times she held three jobs at once. In later years, she loved attending the Pendleton Senior Center, where she met her best friend, Dorothy “Dot” Rodd.

Ginny’s claim to fame was that she was born on the same day and year as Steamboat Willie AKA Mickey Mouse. This turned her family into lifelong Mickey fans and collectors.

Virginia is survived by her daughters Linda Morley Denton, Ronda Morley Behan, her six grandchildren,17 great- grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and son, Stephen Morley.

A funeral service will be held at Pioneer Chapel on Friday June 13, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Virginia’s life.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St. Anthony Hospital for their compassion and care. Their kindness made it a profoundly peaceful and meaningful experience to be with our mother as she transitioned from this life.  We appreciated the honesty and kindness of Dr. Jagoo and the many nurses that cared for Ginny in her last days.  A special thank you to, nurse Katelynn Ellis, whose warmth and compassionate presence made her feel like family through it all.

In lieu of flowers the family invites you to donate to the Pendleton Animal Welfare Shelter AKA  PAWS or encourages others to honor her memory by preforming an act of kindness in her name.
